AB hands down. Scrams will turn off your MWD immediately - as in end your cycle right there and then. And with a BC sized signature, you will be locked and scrammed very fast. With an AB, you will be halfway back to the gate before you are even locked. Scrams will be useless against you and even double webbed, you will most likely make it out before the situation even gets threatening. I fly Jaguars mostly so my ship is pretty fast, but I figure virtually any AF can do this, especially with heat. --------

Scrams won't matter since you only need one burst. And since you pop it right when you warp in/uncloak you'll always get a full burst in.
A full burst in? Highly doubtful. Your burst will be turned off before you even have a chance to fully accelerate. A scram turns off your cycle immediately, which means all you got is your base speed (most certainly webbed anyway) and a prayer. I stand by my statement. I have not been caught in a single gate camp in an AB Jaguar since QR. When it comes to AF's, that is one ship that is almost universally better with an AB than an MWD. --------

Very few people put scrams on their pvp ships in 0.0.
Therefore, rock the MWD.
Many camps I run into have a sensor boosted scram fitted ceptor sitting right on top of the gate just waiting for all those MWD gate dashers to jump into its loving embrace. He might have the only scram in his camp of 20, but he's the one that will ruin your day if you blindly rely on your MWD. --------

Dont listen to this guy; have you even been in -.0 since QR? Arazu + Rapier + HIC = the new hotness.. Arazu will scram you from +20km and no a AB will not save you either, but on a AF AB is the best option.
If they have a HIC with a bubble up and a arazu you will die horribly no matter what you do. Some situations you will just die horribly. A proper camp you will not escape in. At least (as someone mentioned) your sig radius may help you escape but all it takes is someone with a scram and webs and you will die.
1 Scram > 2 webs.
I've actually run an Arazu/Rapier gatecamp in an AB Jag. The Arazu didn't really matter since its scram had no effect on me but thanks to an overheated AB, I was 4km from the gate at 1.5km/s before the Rapier even finished locking. I still hit the gate at close to 400m/s and barely a scratch on my shields. --------

An AB'ing frig can do that - without the 250m bullseye on its back and without worrying about the MWD being turned off.
Originally by: Derek Sigres the MWD remains the single best hope most ships have of making it out alive.
We're not talking about most ships. The OP explicitly mentioned AF's. And a properly fitted and flown AB AF will make it back the gate 99.99% of the time unless the pilot is asleep or extremely unlucky. --------
